Our Prediction:

Miami Dolphins will win

Jacksonville Jaguars – Miami Dolphins Match Prediction | 22-08-2019

That snapped the Jaguars six-game losing streak in the series. Watt and linebacker Whitney Mercilus didnt play in that second game, and they all should be back on the field for the opener, which makes the Texans contenders for the division title again. The Jaguars swept the Texans last season by a combined 74-14, which included a 45-7 romp in December in Jacksonville. Quarterback Deshaun Watson, defensive end J.J.

Ryan Tannehill has been steady for the most part managing games, but if you ask most Dolphins fans, they cant wait for a new quarterback in 2019. If Tannehill can play well these next two games and get his team into the playoffs, he may earn another year as the incumbent starter heading into next season. Future Hall of Famer Frank Gore was placed on injured reserve this week, so expect a heavy dose of rookie Kalen Ballage, who notched his first career 100-yard rushing game last week, to compliment Kenyan Drake. Who could have predicted that Kalen Ballage would have a 100-yard rushing game before Leonard Fournette would? The Dolphins arent known as a heavy play action team, but dont be surprised if they dial that up this week to move the pocket for Tannehill.

Left tackle and former first round pick Laremy Tunsil has had his best season to date, but he is fighting through a knee injury that Yannick Ngakoue should work to take advantage of. Hopefully, Taven Bryan can continue to build off last weeks performance to get his first sack (unless the NFL does a stat correction for the sack he should have had last week). Offensively, the Dolphins have faced injury adversity along the offensive line (sound familiar?) and will be starting Ted Larsen, Travis Swanson, and Jesse Davis on the interior.

Itll be interesting to see how the loss of offensive coordinator Frank Reich affects quarterback Carson Wentz, but its hard to see Philly's offense slowing down much. The Jaguars have won three in a row at Wembley Stadium, but the defending Super Bowl champs will be the toughest opponent theyve faced overseas since they began playing there annually in 2013.

The Dolphins are the much better team and its going to be extremely difficult for this makeshift Jaguars offense to score more than 10, maybe 13 points this week on the road. Lets just hope for no long-term injuries that can linger into the 2019 season (dodged a bullet with Ronnie Harrison last week) and some promising flashes from the young developmental players.

The road team is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 meetings and the under is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings. TheDolphins are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 home games and0-4 ATS in their last 4 Thursday games. TheJaguars are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 Thursday games,2-5-2 ATS in their last 9 vs. The under is 4-1 in Dolphins last 5 games on grass. AFC and2-8-2 ATS in their last 12 games overall. The under is 4-1 in Jaguars last 5 games overall.

Tampa Bay seized the opportunity and struck at the last moment. Miami Dolphins are looking to be in a better shape than Jacksonville and they hold a better record on the preseason at the moment. The Dolphins managed to win their first game, but their last match against Tampa Bay Buccaneers was unsuccessful. Miami Dolphins had control over the game, but their last few seconds were unfortunate. The Dolphins played well against Tampa Bay and finally the ended in a close game with a final score of 14-16. With seven carries in 51 yards, the Dolphins had Patrick Laird take the lead for their team. Jake Rudock and Josh Rosen coordinated well for their team as they covered 174 passing yards together.

It might feel like the Super Bowl to the Jaguars, though, after what happened in Gillette Stadium last January. The Jaguars are just 1-11 all-time against the Patriots (including 1-4 in the postseason) and have never beaten Brady. Tom Brady's third-and-18 conversion, which led to the winning touchdown in the fourth quarter, still stings, as does the early whistle on linebacker Myles Jack's fumble recovery. That last part changes. The rematch of the AFC Championship Game surprisingly wasnt one of the Jaguars two prime-time games.

The Jacksonville pass defense has also surrendered a total of 2,784 yards in the air, which is 1st overall in total pass defense. Jacksonville is 2nd in the NFL in points surrendered on defense with 289. Their rushing defense has given up 383 attempts for 1,674 yards this season, putting them in 21st place in the NFL against the run. Their pass defense has allowed 5.9 net yards per pass attempt, ranking them 1st in the National Football League. That places them 29th in the league. The Jaguars are 1st in yards per play allowed with 5.2. They have given up a total of 4,458 yards on D, which is 2nd in the league. Opponent offenses have completed 272 throws on 442 attempts against the Jacksonville Jaguars defense this season, ranking them 1st and 4th in the league. The Jaguars have had 80 penalties for 625 yards on defense this year. They've allowed a score on 34.6% of possessions on defense, which is 1st in the NFL.

The Miami Dolphins are 30 seconds away from being unbeaten in the preseason and their late backups have played some of the best football in those games. This game needs to be a tryout for Rosen against the starters, as Miami has to find out more about him as a potential starter moving forward. The Jacksonville Jaguars are unbackable through two games, as the offense has done absolutely nothing, averaging five points and not converting on third down.
