Mallorca (@6.5) vs Atletico Madrid (@1.65)

Our Prediction:

Atletico Madrid will win

Mallorca – Atletico Madrid Match Prediction | 26-09-2019 13:00

Atletico Madrid are determined to stay in the race for the trophy and we predict that they will go for a victory in the midweek clash. Joao Felix failed to impress in the goalless draw with Celta, but the opposition defenders should have the big-money signing at bay. Los Rojiblancos, on the other hand, failed to turn their dominance into goals against Celta Vigo and, as a result, they shared the spoils with the Galician outfit in Madrid.

Atleti have never beaten Mallorca in La Liga under Diego Simeone in three attempts but this is the first clash between the sides in over six years. After a bright start to the season, both sides have had a bit of a reality check over the past fortnight and will be hoping to bounce back here. Last seasons runners up face an away trip to relegation favourites Mallorca this Wednesday.

Vicente Morenos men have just one win under their belt at the moment on home soil, while their other two fixtures ended in a draw and a loss respectively. The home team have been struggling to register a win, and there can be no surprises there considering that they have been away from top-flight football for quite some time now.

Atletico Bilbao is currently sitting at position 5 of the table while their opponents Getafe are sitting at position 16. Both teams were locked to matches last weekend that saw the visitors narrowly edge out defending champions Barcelona ending 1-0. In this weeks encounter, we predict that both teams will score, but the visitors will carry the day. On the other hand, Getafe was no match to Atletico Madrid, in a game that saw the home team win 1-0.

Atletico Madrid Latest Team News

The newly-promoted side are without a win in their previous four games, the last of which was a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Getafe on the road. Mallorcas only win so far came in their opener against Eibar at home, and apart from sharing the spoils on one occasion, the hosts have since gone on to admit defeat thrice.

Benzema Vasquez and Kroos all found the net ones and secured the all-important three points for the club ahead of a long season awaiting them. Zidanes men beat Celta Vigo 1-3 despite a Modric red card in the second half of the match. More La Liga fixtures are slotted to go down this weekend with Zidanes men starting on Saturday against Valladolid.

They are good at scoring but have problems in their defence. Last week, they scored four goals in a game that ended 4-4 against Villarreal and secured one point. On the other hand, Sevilla emerged with a 0-2 win against Espanyol playing away. The visiting team look more prepared and promising this weekend, and we envision a win for them. Granada will host Sevilla this weekend at the Nuevo Estadio de Los Carmenes.

They have sufficient depth in their squad to rotate without significantly weakening the team and some fresh legs could just be decisive here. Mallorca have shown enough to suggest they will be competitive this season but they may just be overpowered by Atleti here and the visitors ought to leave with all the points. Atletico Madrid will be hungry to get back to winning ways to give themselves a lift heading into the derby on Saturday.

Mallorca and Atletico Madrid face each other at Iberostar Estadi in what is expected to be one of the most entertaining games of Wednesdays program. The newcomers head into the midweek fixture following a 4-2 loss to Getafe and seeing that they dropped into the danger zone in the La Liga standings, we are positive that Vicente Morenos troops are going to leave their hearts on the field.

Teams squads

When these two teams met in this venue, the home team won 1-0. The home team has won nine of their last encounters while Real Sociedad won against Mallorca in their previous encounter that ended 3-0. Further, the home team have scored at least two goals in the earlier encounters at this venue. Based on these performances, when the teams met head to head, we are determined to place our money on the home team. RCD Mallorca will be the hosts in the match between them and their opponents, Real Sociedad.

They were held to a goalless draw by Celta Vigo at the Wanda Metropolitano at the weekend and head into the midweek action in 6th place whereas they would have topped the standings had they found a winner in that game. As for Atletico Madrid, Diego Simeone will be content with the way his side has performed so far this season but results have deserted them since the international break.

Their best move this offseason was finishing a transfer of Joao Felix from Benfica. He is playing fantastically and he can really make a difference in a few minutes. So if we look at the way he is playing now, that 126 million Euros transfer fee could look like a good investment. As it was already said, they are in a great form, looking to continue their run and battle for the trophy as always.
