Miami Ohio – Ohio Match Prediction | 07-11-2019 20:00

Quarterback Gus Ragland has thrown for 2,082 yards and 15 touchdowns while Jack Sorensen has 39 catches for 593 yards and two touchdowns. The RedHawks havent been terribly impressive on offense this season, averaging 28 points and 375.9 yards per game.

There are a ton of similarities between Miami Ohio and Ohio, including the fact they both have won their last two games after starting conference play at 1-1. The Ohio Bobcats also extended their winning streak to two games with a 34-21 win over MAC-West leaders Ball State. Ohio has conference wins over Ball State, Kent State and Buffalo and suffered their lone loss at home against Northern Illinois. The formula for the RedHawks is pretty straight forward when they run the ball effectively, it usually leads to good things. Take last week when Miami took full advantage of not-so-ideal conditions on the road at Kent State and gashed the Golden Flashes for 289 rushing yards on 49 carries. Tyre Shelton, the RedHawks' leading rusher, went for 148 with Jaylon Bester adding another 67 on the ground as well as what proved to be the game-winning touchdown. Miami will look for similar success against an Ohio defense that is giving up 205.0 rushing yards per game.

Rourke is a dual-threat quarterback and the RedHawks will have a hard time stopping him with his arm or with his feet. I dont see both teams playing defense here but the Bobcats are going to cover because of too much offense. Miami-OH allows too many passing yards and Rourke should have a field day here. Ohio has outscored Miami-Oh by 13 points per game in their last 10 meetings and 9.33 points per game in their last three games played. The RedHawks are 1-3-1 ATS in their last five meetings.

The total has gone over in four out of the last six games played by Ohio. The total has gone over in six out of Miami-OHs last nine games played. Head to head, the total has gone under in eight out of the last 10 games played by these two teams. The under is 3-2 in the last five road games played by the RedHawks. The over is 3-1 in the Bobcats last four games played at home.

Ohio head coach Frank Solich has had the RedHawks' number, winning 11 of the past 12 matchups in the Battle of the Bricksagainst four different Miami head coaches. It's up to Miami's defense to keep the RedHawks in this game, especially given the roll Ohio's offense has been on. Eventually, the Bobcats' depth and explosivenessis likely going to wear down Miami. Ouellette as the Bobcats win their sixth in a row against their in-state rivals to set up next week'shuge MAC East showdown with Buffalo. Look for another outstanding performance from quarterback Nathan Rourke along with some help from running back A.J.

This should be a fun and high-scoring rivalry game and I expect the teams to go over the 54.5 total for this one. Both teams can put points on the board but neither can play defense. These teams are in the bottom half of the MAC in scoring defense, allowing a combined 62.5 points per game on the season. These teams have combined to score 45.4 points per game in their last 10 games played and 51.67 points per game in their last three meetings.

According to oddsmakers at, Ohio is the slight favorite on the road, as the Bobcats are getting odds of -3.5 points against Miami-Ohio.

While Miami isnt terrible defensively, the Bobcats should be capable of having another big game on offense behind its trio of strong rushers. The RedHawks should be able to match Ohio on a lot of scores, especially with the game at home. Ohio has been scoring at will lately, putting up at least 49 points in its last three. Miami also has been scoring well as of late, putting up at least 30 points in six straight games. I like the over to hit in this one.

The Bobcats are putting up 40.6 points and 463.2 yards per game this season. Nathan Rourke, AJ Ouellette and Maleek Irons each have nearly 600 rushing yards and the trio has combined for 22 rushing touchdowns. Defensively, Ohio is allowing 27.2 points and 419.2 yards per game. Rourke has also thrown for 1,766 yards and 17 touchdowns. Usually known for defense, Ohio is winning with offense this year. Their run game is averaging 236.3 yards per game. Papi White is the leading receiver with 42 catches for 706 yards.

Shelton, who leads the team in rushing, ran over the Golden Flashes, carrying 14 times for 148 yards. Bester was equally as effective, rushing 32 times for 99 yards and three scores over the past two games, including a two-TD effort against Northern Illinois. Freshman running back Tyre Shelton and junior back Jaylon Bester have played important roles in recent weeks as the RedHawks have posted back-to-back wins against Northern Illinois and Kent State.

The Bobcats'offense is built around dual-threat quarterback Nathan Rourke. This season, he's completing 59.2 percent of his passes with 10 touchdownsand just five interceptions, while also putting up 536 total rushing yards with eight more scores. The only player to rank in the top 10 of the MAC in both passing and rushing, Rourke is averaging more yards of total offense per game (284.9) this season than when he led the conference (253.4) in 2018. He is coming off of a season-high 127 rushing yards with two touchdowns in a 34-21 win over Ball State.
