Our Prediction:

Toronto Wolfpack will win

Toronto Wolfpack – Featherstone Rovers Match Prediction | 05-10-2019 14:30

Both squads will be quite different for the 2019 installment of what is becoming an exciting rivalry between the two sides. Brian McDermott has begun to settle on what looks to be his best side in recent weeks. The likes of Liam Kay, Ricky Leutele and Gareth OBrien in red-hot point scoring form while Anthony Mullally, Gadwin Springer several others have been rock-solid in defense.

Round 23 of the Betfred Championship sees the 2018 regular season come to a close this weekend as the table topping Toronto Wolfpack take on Featherstone Rovers. The event boasts half price tickets, food and drink as well as a host of competitions and fan focused game day entertainment. The game at Lamport Stadium is at the earlier kick-off time of 1:30pm as the Wolfpack throw a first Fan Appreciation Game.

As a Toronto player, do you give everything you have in a game that doesnt matter for your club, or do you make sure you come through without an injury, so you can focus on the biggest seven games of your career? Its easy to see today that the Pack had their thoughts on the middle 8s, and they were up against a team that had to fight to keep their playoff dream alive.

Toronto came out looking more like the team that we have seen at home this season, with a fired up Adam Sidlow crashing over and Brierley adding the two.But Featherstone kept up their aggression, and shortly afterwards Josh Hardcastle broke through the Pack defense to add the points.Hardman kept up his kicking display, and after yet another penalty given for poor play from the Pack, would again add the two.

Second and fifth spots in the standings are currently separated by just one game, meaning every game is a must win for those jostling for position at the business end of the table. Toulouses loss to Bradford last weekend saw them concede second place to York City Knights and Featherstone could jump the French side into third with an upset victory over Toronto.

For me, Hardman led the way with his kicking game. Every opportunity to kick, Hardman stepped up confidently. Missing only two of his attempts today, he kept that scoreboard moving for his team, which in turn gives the team a lot of confidence. It is never easy in a must win game to step up and take the kicking responsibility, but he did a fantastic job and deserves recognition for his confidence and performance.

The Rovers most recently claimed a tight win over Leigh that moved them into fourth position and set a platform for a finals charge. The victory was on the back of a remarkable performance from scrum-half Dane Chisholm, who ended the match with a try and three conversions that proved the difference in a game that finished with just a four-point margin.
